RELEASE PAIN, EASE TENSION, RESTORE BALANCE

Acupuncture can help with specific aches, pains and imbalances, as well as boosting overall wellbeing, and can safely be used alongside western medicine. People have acupuncture for chronic pain, injuries, fatigue, mental health, insomnia, headaches, cancer treatment support, hormonal imbalances, menstrual regulation, perimenopause, pregnancy & fertility support, birth preparation, autoimmune disorders, recovery from surgery and much much more.

The wide-ranging benefits of acupuncture mean it has the potential to help a lot of people, but costs of 1-to-1 services mean this time-honoured, scientifically proven and highly effective medical system is unfortunately inaccessible to many people, or only utilised as an occasional luxury or last resort.

Community acupuncture makes treatment more affordable meaning more people are able to have acupuncture more often. Restoring balance to our own health, and a little step towards restoring balance to our increasingly inequitable communities.

WHAT IS COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE

Community acupuncture clinics provide personalised treatments in a shared space and is a more traditional way of offering acupuncture. Once your needles are gently in place, the practitioner is free to treat someone else while you relax.

The hall is sectioned into 3 treatment areas with dividers for privacy. Acupuncture points used are usually located on the lower arms, lower legs and head, so there is no need to undress - you only need to roll sleeves and trouser legs up. If you're uncomfortable with any points selected there are always alternatives, I want you to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

The communal format allows treatment to be offered at a lower cost allowing more people to experience the benefits of acupuncture.

THE SLIDING PAYMENT SCALE

The sliding payment scale allows you to pay whatever you can between £25 - £50.

You are always welcome to pay the lower end of the scale, no questions asked. If you can afford it, please consider supporting the project by paying towards the higher end which is the cost of a 1-to-1 treatment. It's a lovely way to contribute to the health of your neighbourhood by paying it forward and giving whilst receiving. The lower end of the scale is always there for you too during less flush times and you never have to explain yourself.

PRICING GUIDE:

£25 the most affordable price  to help you get more regular treatment and/or if you're financially insecure.

£35 roughly cost neutral for the clinic.

£35+ you’re supporting yourself, affordability for others, and the overall existence of the clinic.

No need for proof of income - your finances are your business and it's entirely up to you to decide what you can afford.

Subsidised £20 treatments are available for staff and clients of local charity Safe in Sussex.

THE SPACE

Worthing Community Acupuncture takes place at St Andrew the Apostle church hall - a peaceful haven in the heart of Worthing. The stone building is over 100 years old, the church is deeply committed to serving the local community, and the beautiful light coming through the stained glass windows - all bring a uniquely grounding, ethereal and unifying energy to the sessions,

Although you may hear other people come and go, the space remains a place of calm and the collective energy only serves to enhance the healing experience.

Voices are low, relaxing music is playing, heaters are on if its cold, blankets are provided, and charcoal filtered water is available.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME?

Depending on your complaint, how long it's been affecting you, and factors such as lifestyle, diet and the job you do, your response can vary immensely. Often 1 or 2 treatments is enough, other times more regular sessions are beneficial for management and maintenance.

Usually for chronic conditions people benefit from regular treatment. Like most practices, the more routinely you receive acupuncture the more effectively your body will respond. Ideally acupuncture will become a self care practice to keep up even when you're feeling well - treatments aim to maintain balance and health, as well as treat disease.
